Bring the Peace

As we plan for gatherings and parties for the season we may find our name on a list of what to contribute to the event. We think about what to make, buy or take. You may have a favorite main dish or desert to bring and you write that on the list. That's the holiday spirit.

This season I want you to think about a list we are all on as woman of faith, the list to bring the peace. I am asking you, as I am myself to make a promise this holiday season to bring the peace. As Christians peace is a spiritual fruit we are to bare. Let's share the eternal peace that rest in our hearts. We know the true Prince of Peace and the reason He was born. As we enjoy the food, family, friends think about how blessed we are to be in a position to bring the peace. Walking in harmony with God in this season and being God's messenger of peace.

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

Isaiah 52:7

Although it is good to do, this doesn't simply mean having a pleasant smile and attitude. As Christian women we are equipped to do much more than that. We know the Savior of the world, we have a divine connection that can change any atmosphere, situation or circumstance. During a season when many hearts are heavy, we can speak beyond empty words and speak God's words of encouragement and redemption. People are facing difficult and even painful challenges and need to know where to find Real Peace. You can...Woman of God, be the person to show them. Pray for God to order your steps so you can be used as His messenger of peace.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” Isaiah 6:8

We are the sent ones. It may be hard to comprehend or see yourself being a messenger. Sharing God's encouraging words with a stranger or even a family member is not on your list. Could it be that we have become so far removed from what the Christian mission is and our role in it as Christians that CHRISTmas is just another holiday. Are we finding ourselves--during a season when the need for real peace is great--unable to fulfill the assignment that we signed up for as believers in Jesus Christ? Could it be we don't see, simply because we don't want to, we don't care to or we don't think that, little old me is suppose to do that. If you are there, why not you? You could be looking right past the person God wants you to talk to and encourage. Lost people are walking by you. How will they find peace?

"But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it?" Romans 10:14–15 (MSG)

Your name is on God's list; it is time to believe that He wants to and will use you as His messenger, to bring peace. During this season and always we, the followers of Christ are to go and make disciples (Matthew 28:19). Your part in being in the path of a person being made into a disciple; can simply be to talk to them, listen and bring a mental calmness, to let them know there is peace for their soul. As you enjoy the holiday season make sure you don't miss the opportunities to work in harmony with God and share His peace.

"Do two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?" Amos 3:3

Harmony is achieved when all parts work together in unity. Agree to do your part and the Great Conductor, Our Mighty God will do the rest and work through you. It takes two, you and God. Once you come into agreement be ready to witness the beauty of a harmonic conversation unfold like the colors in these changing autumn leaves.

When we come together with loved ones or strangers it is an opportunity to have conversations. They can happen at any time, at the dinner table, on the dance floor, in the classroom, at the gift wrapping stand, at the bus station, at the office, God works when He works. When we agree to bring the peace of God as His messengers we will experience life changing conversations.

Bring the peace.
