2 Sides of Intercession

October 14, 2018

During the early parts of my journey with breast cancer, I could feel the presence of God so close to me that praying with someone was rarely my request. What was very important to me was to know that I was being covered in prayer. I asked others to pray for me in their own time.  Two things I want to share about intercession-praying for others,

First, knowing that I was being prayed for added to my peace. I am so thankful and grateful that I am a beneficiary of intercessory prayer.

Secondly, I pray for people I don't know. I also know there are people (that don't know me) praying for me. 1 Timothy 2:1 says,

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people."

There are women dealing with breast cancer that may have no idea where to turn and they are feeling hopeless. We need to pray for them and also for those who are walking in faith. I encourage you to pray for all breast cancer patients, survivors, their families, and families of those who have lost loved ones. In my prayer, I pray that those who don't know Christ, will come to know Him and those who do will have a deeper relationship with Him.  I also love the prayer in 3 John 2:1,

"Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul."

We can pray a simple prayer like that and foster it towards breast cancer.  I urge you to take some time today and intercede, that is pray on someone else's behalf that is dealing with the horrible diseases of breast cancer.  And asks others to pray for you.  It does not have to be people you know, you can call a church hotline, just take the steps to have yourself covered in prayer, when you are ill or not.

Work the two sides of intercession by having others pray for you and by you praying for others. And always remember to give thanks to God for answering your prayers and prayers said on your behalf.
