Where Is The Love?

Happy St. Valentine's Day! You may be looking forward to this day or want to take no part in it. Being that I am usually single (and not expecting anything special) I decided to enjoy the day in other ways. Growing up my mother would always give us a gift so I have always seen it as a day to show love to anyone. A fun day to share love.

That changed a few years ago. Some of my single friends (as we get older) began showing signs of depression and desperateness and that was making my heart ache. They were crying out "where is the love?" with a yearning, "I am in pain over this love thing!" They needed somebody and St. Valentine's day only reminded them how alone they were. Why?...was the question. Why me or why not me? Who knows the answer except for the Lord above. It is not just single people, there are married folks who are dealing with these feeling also and theirs is on a whole different level. They have that special somebody, yet some unfortunately face love challenges. The truth is everybody needs unconditional love. Whether single or married, there is only one Somebody, who can provide that and will help you through V-day and any day that is lacking in the love you so desire.

"Greater love has no one than this, that Someone lay down His life for His friends." John 15:13

I wanted to do something for my friends and in return I was blessed. About ten years ago I hosted my first fellowship for single women to deal with this crisis. Yes, crisis. Times are hard on single women when they don't realize that God values and loves them, intensely. We begin making foolish decisions, settling for less and giving up. My mission is to simply shower my single friends with love and point them to the lover of their soul, Jesus Christ. To lift some of the heaviness on their hearts that the season my bring. For us to be encouraged and empowered in knowing that we are loved with an everlasting love.

"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love." John 15:9

A few of my married friends would join us and that has always given the opportunity for powerful testimonies on marriage and the confirmation that total fulfillment can only be found in a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. The love that we share during the fellowships is priceless. Real love is priceless.

"Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." Romans 12:9-10

If you will enjoy this day with a special someone, thank God for them. If you are wondering where is the love, my Boaz, my boo, my somebody special, take it one day at a time. Keep praying and keep calm. Romantic love is a beautiful thing but you can enjoy St. Valentine's day even if you don't have it. Make a change in your perspective. We can all broaden our horizons and shower love on someone else. Buy a bag of chocolate hearts and pass them out to your coworkers, send an eCard to your family members, call somebody you haven't talked to in awhile just to tell them you love them. Spread the love! My Christian friends, isn't that where love is supposed to be in our hearts. Challenge yourself and watch God work. Your actions my lead someone to ask where is the Most Incredible Love!

Take heart my friends and enjoy the day.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
